Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Father in heaven * we thank you for sending us your Holy Spirit * the Lord and Giver of Life * as our Advocate and Consoler * We acknowledge Him to be the bond of love * between you and your Only-begotten Son Jesus * Pour out your Spirit in abundance upon the whole universe * the marvelous work of your hands * and make of it a new creation * May He mend our broken bodies * and heal our tainted nature * the fruit of our sins and concupiscence * and mould us anew into your own image and likeness *

Lord Jesus * through a fresh anointing of your Spirit * usher in a new Pentecost * for your pilgrim Church on earth and for the whole of human kind * May He penetrate deeply into our lives and transform us day by day * so that we may be known as your true disciples * by the fruits of the Spirit we bear * and by the love we show for our fellow pilgrims to our home in heaven *

O Holy Spirit, enkindle in us the fire of your love and * enrich the Church with your seven-fold gifts and charism * Reveal the fullness of the faith * to those who do not yet know Jesus * who alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life * With you for your Guide * we may all cry "Abba Father" and proclaim with one voice and heart * that Jesus Christ is Lord *

Most Holy Mary * lmmaculate Spouse of the Holy Spirit * teach us to be docile * to His divine promptings and action * as you were at the lncarnation * and all throughout your life on earth * help us to listen to what the Spirit is saying to us in the Church today * and, despite the alluring temptations * of the world, the devil and the flesh, * give us the courage * to live only in God's Spirit * and for His greater glory * Mary, our Mother, pray for us. Amen.
